Getting Out of the Shower? Dry Off Completely!

SERVPRO of Glen Burnie cares about the state of your home and business and will always try to provide tips for home and business owners alike that may save your property. Owning property can be stressful and even overwhelming at times. Sometimes, you just want to take a shower and relax. However, taking a shower and fully drying off can lead to damage in your bathroom!
You might ask how is this possible? Water is relentless and will permeate most surface. When someone does not fully dry off before getting out of the shower, the water that drips off their body can cause damage to the sub floor. This water will find its way below the surface.
For this simple water damage job, we removed the vanity and flooring after a small leak occurred. Our crew found this small area by the corner of the bathtub that was discolored. This discoloring can be signs of eventual mold or rot to occur. Homeowners unknowingly cause this, and it is a common misfortune we see. Yellow or brown caulk can be a sign of this problem. Something like this constitutes Class 4 water damage as the water has been trapped below the surface for an extended period. Some ways homeowners can prevent this are by fully drying off before getting out of the shower, caulking and resealing the affected area and purchasing a matt to place in front of the shower.
